Adoption of 2015 International Code Council (ICC) Building Codes
Hinsdale County and Town of Lake City are considering possible adoption of the 2015 International Code Council (ICC) Building Codes with select amendments. Currently the Town and County are using the 2012 ICC Building Codes.
As part of the process of possible adoption of new codes, Hinsdale County/Lake City Building Official Richard Kimball worked with an ad-hoc committee to review the 2015 code and its amendments and make recommendations to the Commissioners and Trustees. The committee met and reviewed the codes multiple times over the course of several months in 2020.
Building Official Kimball presented preliminary recommendations for 2015 code adoptions to the Hinsdale County Board of Commissioners and Lake City Trustees at their most recent regular meetings on Wednesday, October 21. The BOCC will again discuss the recommended building code adoptions at the November 4 meeting, at the same time scheduling a public hearing for December 9. On November 18, there will be a joint meeting with the Town of Lake City Trustees to further discuss code adoption. At that meeting the county commissioners will consider approving the final codes, which will be adopted by resolution following the public hearing on December 9. The Town will also hold a public hearing as part of their code adoption process.
Public comment and input on the recommended new codes is an important part of the process for both Hinsdale County and the Town of Lake City. Documents presented to the boards by Kimball are available for review below. BUILDING PERMIT PROCESS
Complete all three of the applications below and submit to Hinsdale County Building Department by mail, email, fax or in person at 311 North Henson St. in Lake City. After submitting your applications, please contact the Building Official at 970-944-2225 to continue the building permit process. BUILDING CAN NOT COMMENCE BEFORE PERMIT APPROVAL by the Building Official and payment of fees.
